Imagine awakening in the morning and feeling grateful for the day ahead. Imagine feeling well in your body, light in your spirit. Imagine that the weight you carry has been lifted, transformed into new possibilities you may have never dreamt before. Relationships that were once difficult are now easier, softer, more connected and enjoyable. Indecision no longer keeps you stuck in a place you have outgrown. Hurtful inner voices are soothed. Fear has no power over you anymore because you have learned skills to nourish and strengthen your deepest self. You now know the truth. You are here on this earth to make a positive difference. You possess all the inner resources to create an inner and outer life that reflects the very best of you.

Individual therapy is a pathway back to your original self, the you that was born with enthusiasm, joy, ease and a loving and peaceful heart. The process of therapy is the process of growing, and growing up again, so that you may reclaim your unique identity. New insights, understanding and skills enable you to choose the roads that nourish and honor the very best you and bring you the most fulfillment.

What does individual therapy look like?

In the first session we will spend time getting to know one another and identifying the areas of your life where you would like to see shifts happen. These shifts begin as you develop a deeper and truer understanding of yourself and find new ways of seeing. My belief is that each and every one of us must spend some time ‘growing up again.’ Rather than continue with beliefs and behaviors that may be rooted in earlier times, you can begin the rewarding work of establishing your identity according to your unique desires, interests and personal truth.

Lastly, I am a therapist who is willing to support you out of the therapy room, as well as in it. It is not unusual for my clients to receive an email from me several times a month, sharing resources or providing encouragement. My clients know that I am available during the week if there is something important going on and there is a need for for additional support. It is my joy and privilege to do so.

The Twenty Dollar Bill

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 dollar bill. In the room filled with 200 people, he asked, ”Who would like this $20 bill?” Hands started going up.

He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you, but first let me do this.” He proceeded to crumple the bill. Again, he held up the money and asked who wanted it. More hands went up. “Well, what if I do this?” at which point he dropped the bill on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it the dirty and crumpled money. “Now who still wants it?” Many people raised their hands once more.

My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. No matter what, our inherent worth remains unchanged, just as the twenty-dollar bill.

Every day is a birthday, for every day we are born anew.
